institutional bureaucracy

I'm posting for 60 days straight, leading up to my early December birthday, and I'm making the time to write on behalf of slain UCC Professor and aspiring novelist, Larry Levine.

I've almost been pulled into a bureaucracy vortex these past days in attempting to coordinate between a national financial institution and a division of the Federal Government. I'll not spill details but suffice to say the folks I spoke with on the phone the THREE times I had to call - yes, ol' fashioned toll free number, customer service agents - were all pleasant, seemingly on the ball, and efficient. Meanwhile my local bank was equally friendly, with best of intentions, but I kept getting asked for info I didn't have, or told to do X when the other party demanded Y.

The few hours spent are gone. My patience with them. Good news? It's done. As far as I know, the matter's resolved.

Bring on Friday!
